Dutch Harbor TWIC Update

Lockheed Martin was scheduled to visit Dutch Harbor today to continue the activation of TWIC which were not activated during their previous visit, as well as conducting another round of INITIAL ENROLLMENTS for anyone who has not enrolled yet.

Due to poor weather this weekend, the Trusted Agent's flight was turned around.  She is still trying to get to the island and will continue doing so.  As soon as I get additional information I will pass it along using this newsletter, but in the meantime the center is not open for business as previously scheduled.
Ketchikan TWIC Activation Update

The Ketchikan mobile activation center has closed for business.  Approximately 600 cards were activated during this visit, with only 75 cards being returned to Juneau.  This visit was a huge success (for most folks) and I'd like to thank Ketchikan's Harbormaster, Steve Corporon, the Harbor staff, and Lockheed Martin for making it happen.

Unfortunatley, if you are one of the 75 enrollees who did not activate your TWIC during this visit, or if you are a new enrollee, you will be required to travel to a fixed center (Juneau, Anchorage, Nikiski, Valdez, Seattle, or another center in the Lower 48) to enroll & activate.  Also as a reminder: You must currently travel to the same center you enrolled in to activate your card.  For those of you who enrolled in any of SEAK's mobile sites (including Ketchikan), that means Juneau.

We are working with Lockheed Martin and the City of Ketchikan to find long-term alternatives to travel outside Ketchikan for TWIC and I'll keep everyone posted.
2009 Port Security Grant Deadline

The deadline to submit applications for the 2009 Port Security Grant Program (PSGP) has been extended to January 23, 2009.

This extension is due to the recent technical problems with the online grant submission portal: www.grants.gov.
